Affiliate Disclosure

In plain English, the way we'd want it explained to us.

We believe in being completely transparent about how this site makes money. Here's the full picture.

The short version

Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. We only recommend products we actually use, have used, or would buy ourselves. We will never recommend something bad just to make a buck.

The longer version

Amazon Associates

The Broke Travel Couple is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and other Amazon properties.

When you click an Amazon link from our site and purchase something within 24 hours, we receive a small commission—typically 1–4% of the purchase price. The cost to you is exactly the same. Amazon charges the same price whether you arrive at their site through us or directly.

Other affiliate programs

We may participate in other affiliate programs over time (cruise booking platforms, travel gear brands, etc.). When we do, the same principle applies: we only recommend things we actually use and would recommend to a friend. We disclose affiliate relationships clearly on each article that contains them.

Sponsored content

Currently, we do not accept sponsored content or paid posts. If this changes in the future, any sponsored article will be clearly labeled as such at the top of the article, before you read a single word. No exceptions.

Display advertising

We may run display ads on the site through third-party ad networks. These ads are not endorsements by us—we don't control which ads appear on any given page.

Our promise

Affiliate income is how this site survives. It's how two teachers get to keep producing free cruise content for you. But we will never let that change what we say about a product.

If a product isn't worth your money, we'll tell you that—even if it costs us a commission. If something cheaper works just as well as something expensive, we'll tell you that too. Our credibility is the only thing this site has, and we're not selling it for a $4 Amazon kickback.

Questions?

If you have questions about a specific product recommendation or affiliate relationship, email us at hello@thebroketravelcouple.com. We'll answer honestly.
